Washington D.C.– On July 12, 2022, the United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 521, the First Response Fair RETIRE Act. The bill allows a federal first responder to remain in an accelerated 20-year retirement system if they suffer a work-related injury or illness. Congressman Sessions is a co-sponsor of this legislation.
“Our federal first responders provide law enforcement, fight fires, and save the lives of everyday Americans.” Congressman Sessions said, “These brave men and women should not be penalized in receiving their retirement for suffering an injury or illness in the course of doing a hazardous job. I am a proud co-sponsor of H.R.521, and support the brave men and women who show up to work every day to do the hard jobs that keep us safe.”
