House Republicans Pass H.R. 1 the Lower Energy Costs Act
March 30, 2023
Washington D.C.– On March 30, 2023, Congressman Sessions voted in favor of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. This legislation is a key component of the House Republicans’ effort to restore American energy independence, secure our nation’s energy infrastructure, and end Joe Biden’s harmful energy agenda.
After H.R. 1 passed the House, Congressman Sessions stated, “President Biden and Congressional Democrats have waged a fight against our country’s domestic energy production, imposing excessive energy costs for hard-working consumers, businesses, and families across America. Gas and utility costs have reached unprecedented levels, with the national average gas price now at $3.53, up from $2.42 when the President assumed office in January 2021. Today, I was pleased to vote in support of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which would reform permitting processes and cut red tape, incentivize domestic energy production, and reduce reliance on unfriendly foreign countries for energy and mineral resources. Through the Lower Energy Costs Act, my colleagues and I are making good on our promise to steer the country away from the assault on American energy.”
