Congressional Hindu Caucus
ABOUT
Established during the 115th Congress, the Congressional Hindu Caucus was founded to forge a vital connection between the Hindu-American community and policymakers in Washington D.C. Now, in the 118th Congress, Congressman Sessions and Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) Co-Chair the caucus, continuing its pivotal role.
The Caucus's primary mission is to represent values and address issues that are important to the Hindu-American community. It embodies a diverse coalition, representing Hindus from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. Additionally, the Caucus embraces members of other faiths with Indian origins, including Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists, showcasing its inclusivity.
At its heart, the Congressional Hindu Caucus aims to empower Hindu-Americans in American politics. It serves as a dynamic platform for the community to effectively engage with policymakers, focusing on issues that matter to them while advocating for free enterprise, limited government, fiscal discipline, strong family values, and a robust foreign policy stance against authoritarian regimes. This approach not only strengthens the Hindu-American presence in Washington but also enhances its role in shaping a more representative and diverse nation.
