Border Security

One of our federal government’s few enumerated powers includes providing for the general welfare of the United States. Well-maintained borders are necessary to fulfill that duty. Due to the lack of enforcement on our border, our nation is amid a nationwide drug and humanitarian crisis. As the lead Texan on the House Committee of Government Oversight and Reform, I will hold those who are responsible for border security accountable and support border enforcement agencies. Some of the legislation I have championed includes:

  • H.R. 6740 – Border Tunnel Task Force Act | This bill amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to direct the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to establish border tunnel task forces in jurisdictions in which such task forces can contribute to border security missions.
  • H.R. 5857 – No IDs for Illegals Act | Prohibits the use of federal funds from being used to establish or otherwise support the Secure Docket Card Program through ICE or any similar program within the Department of Homeland Security
  • H.R. 6383 – To prohibit the Secretary of Homeland Security from implementing or enforcing a remain in Texas policy | Prevents DHS from implementing a remain in Texas policy” that forces illegal immigrants to remain in Texas as they await their asylum hearings
