Veterans of our armed services deserve our nation’s gratitude, support, and care. The federal government should be attentive to providing resources that support veterans' needs as they transition from active duty. I commit my efforts in Congress to ensure our former servicemen and women receive care and benefits that reflect the country’s appreciation for their sacrifice. Some of my efforts include:
All our law enforcement agencies and officers deserve our country’s utmost appreciation. In Congress, that means providing law enforcement jurisdictions with the methods and resources necessary to be safe, successful, and transparent. I will advocate for law enforcement and work against efforts to defund our police force.
As costs skyrocket and choices plummet, it is evident our healthcare system is not adequately serving the American people. Furthermore, years of greater federal government involvement have been far less than a course correction. Congress must reorient its one-size-fits-all approach. In Congress, I will continue to advocate for policies that focus on patient-centered, market-based solutions that lower costs and increase options. Some of my efforts include:
America’s founders could not have envisioned the exponential growth of our bureaucracy. Their framework required a lean, constrained, and accountable federal government. Congress must rein in the federal government and make them accountable to the American people. As the lead Texan of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I will work to reduce wasteful and unnecessary spending and hold our agencies and officials accountable. As a pro-growth conservative, I believe the free enterprise system in conjunction with the private sector is the recipe for long-term prosperity. Both contribute to the foundation of our country and are the greatest contributors to driving down poverty and increasing innovation. It is critical to ensure free markets have as few regulations as possible while affirming the protection of consumers and investors. In Congress, I will work to reduce overburdening regulations on our free enterprise system and private industry. Some of my efforts include:
America’s energy security is a matter of national security. Our current dependence on foreign energy resources contributes to erratic costs at the pump and diminishes our international influence. The United States needs to responsibly use our domestic resources to be energy- independent while supporting private industry investment in alternative fuels. In Congress, I will support efforts for American energy independence.
One of our federal government’s few enumerated powers includes providing for the general welfare of the United States. Well-maintained borders are necessary to fulfill that duty. Due to the lack of enforcement on our border, our nation is amid a nationwide drug and humanitarian crisis. As the lead Texan on the House Committee of Government Oversight and Reform, I will hold those who are responsible for border security accountable and support border enforcement agencies.
