Week after week we learn more and more about Hillary Clinton’s blatant disregard for our nation's laws and continued abuse of power.
This week I had the opportunity to speak with realtors, job creators, entrepreneurs, and families about a variety of issues ranging from healthcare to trade to the economy. I always enjoy attending round table discussions, participating in Congressional Forums, and meeting with families from the 32nd Congressional District to give them an update on my work in Washington.
This afternoon I was honored to serve as the commencement speaker at the Gary Jobs Corps graduation ceremony in San Marcos. The Gary Jobs Corps is the nation’s largest residential education and vocational training program for economically disadvantaged youth.
During the August Work Period I always enjoy meeting with North Texans and discussing important issues facing our communities and country as a whole. This week I had the opportunity to meet with small business owners, representatives from the healthcare industry, members of the National Tooling and Manufacturing Association and more.
Before Congress left for our August District Work Period, the House passed an important measure to combat the spreading Zika virus. While the House completed its work, Senate Democrats chose to put politics above the lives and safety of pregnant American women and blocked the funding measure not once but twice.
Every summer during the months of June and July I am delighted to welcome North Texas high school students to Washington to participate in my Pete Sessions Leadership and Growth Program.
On Thursday, July 7, 2016, the people of Dallas were shaken to the core with the tragic shooting and deliberate targeting of our local law enforcement officials. During a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas, police officers who were supporting and protecting members of the community who were peacefully assembling were met with unwarranted, deliberate violence.
This week I led a mission to El Paso to learn more about the national security threats that our country faces on our southern border with members from Texas, Congressman Brian Babin, Congressman Blake Farenthold, and Congressman Will Hurd, and Congressman Jeff Duncan from South Carolina.
This week the United States Supreme Court confirmed what Republicans have been saying since President Obama announced his lawless executive amnesty plan - his actions were unwise, unlawful, and - most importantly - unconstitutional. I strongly applaud the Supreme Court’s decision to affirm the ruling that halted the President’s blatant abuse of executive authority.
