For the past eight years we heard from a president who offered empty promises and who refused to address the failures of his administration. On Tuesday, on the other hand, the American people heard from a president who stands by his word, has gotten straight to work, and every day upholds his commitment to fight on behalf of the American people.
During this district work period I was delighted to meet with constituents across North Texas including students, small business owners, and community leaders. As your proud representative I think it is critical that we discuss the important issues facing our community, state, and nation.
In the last month the House has acted to roll back 13 regulations imposed by the Obama Administration, three of which have been signed into law. We have remained vigilant in our efforts and we will continue to cut through eight years of bureaucratic red tape and unleash the true potential of our great nation.
This week the House passed two measures to roll back the teacher preparation rule and the accountability rule imposed in the waning days of the Obama Administration. I proudly voted to roll back these two last minute rules to cut through unnecessary bureaucratic red tape that is strangling our teachers and hindering their ability to effectively and proficiently teach our students.

This morning I was honored to join Americans from across the country at our nation’s Capitol to celebrate the peaceful transfer of power to the 45th President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump. With this unified government we have an historic opportunity to strengthen our great nation and get our country back on track.
This week I was proudly took my oath of office and was sworn into the 115th Congress to continue to serve and represent the great people of the 32nd Congressional District.
As Members of Congress we are entrusted with the responsibility to effectively and responsibly fund our nation’s government. This week we passed a measure to fund the government into the new year and increases spending to ensure our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to protect our freedom both at home and abroad.
Today the House Republican Conference ratified the nominations for Committee Chairmanships and I am honored to serve as the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules for the 115th Congress. As Chairman I have strived to create a more transparent and open process that encourages all members to bring their ideas to the table.
During this season of thanks may we join our family, friends, and fellow Americans in reflecting upon the invaluable contributions of the men and women who serve in the United States military at home and around the world.
