Aside from a few rainy days, it has been a beautiful week in North Texas. During this District Work Period I had the opportunity to visit with students, police officers, young professionals, airmen, medical professionals, and more.
Today the House passed a short-term funding measure through May 5th. While this is not ideal, I support this effort to provide our colleagues with more time to reach a final agreement on legislation to fund thegovernment through the fiscal.
It is always an honor to meet with North Texans across the district to learn how I can help them with issues they are facing personally or issues that are impacting all of us on the national stage.
In the past two weeks I have heard from more than 3,000 constituents about the direction of our country. As a country we have to decide if we want to keep the status quo, or if we want to work together to move our country forward and create a better life for all Americans. With this united government we have an historic opportunity to make a difference.
After seven years of President Obama’s failed healthcare law, Republicans have introduced a plan that will repeal the most onerous parts of Obamacare, ending the job crushing penalties and mandates, and replace the law with a free market based system including robust consumer protections.
For the past eight years we heard from a president who offered empty promises and who refused to address the failures of his administration. On Tuesday, on the other hand, the American people heard from a president who stands by his word, has gotten straight to work, and every day upholds his commitment to fight on behalf of the American people.
During this district work period I was delighted to meet with constituents across North Texas including students, small business owners, and community leaders. As your proud representative I think it is critical that we discuss the important issues facing our community, state, and nation.
In the last month the House has acted to roll back 13 regulations imposed by the Obama Administration, three of which have been signed into law. We have remained vigilant in our efforts and we will continue to cut through eight years of bureaucratic red tape and unleash the true potential of our great nation.
