This past weekend I had the opportunity to join the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) on a joint mission to the Rio Grande Valley. In 2010, the National Guard began assisting CBP in support of Operation Phalanx and in 2012 the mission switched to aviation focused support, in which the National Guard provides a ‘birds eye’ view for CBP.
During this district work week, I enjoyed meeting with North Texans and discussing current legislation in Washington, policies that impact small businesses, and other critical issues facing our communities and nation as a whole.
This week the house passed legislation to efficiently fund the government for the next year and create certainty for America’s job creators. As we close this year and begin a new chapter in 2016, I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to deliver conservative solutions to strengthen our great nation.

This week I had the opportunity to sit down with the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) Board of Directors and representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) to discuss future issues with the water supply in North Texas.
This week the House passed legislation to limit the federal government’s footprint in our classrooms, block onerous rules from the EPA, capitalize on today’s era of energy abundance in the U.S., and modernize our roads and infrastructure.
Today I join my fellow Americans in giving thanks for the many blessings that we enjoy in our great nation. Each year I am honored to highlight military heroes from the 32nd Congressional District of Texas who have valiantly served our nation and have made selfless sacrifices for the freedoms that we enjoy as Americans.
