Every summer during the months of June and July I am delighted to welcome North Texas high school students to Washington to participate in my Pete Sessions Leadership and Growth Program.
On Thursday, July 7, 2016, the people of Dallas were shaken to the core with the tragic shooting and deliberate targeting of our local law enforcement officials. During a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas, police officers who were supporting and protecting members of the community who were peacefully assembling were met with unwarranted, deliberate violence.
This week I led a mission to El Paso to learn more about the national security threats that our country faces on our southern border with members from Texas, Congressman Brian Babin, Congressman Blake Farenthold, and Congressman Will Hurd, and Congressman Jeff Duncan from South Carolina.
This week the United States Supreme Court confirmed what Republicans have been saying since President Obama announced his lawless executive amnesty plan - his actions were unwise, unlawful, and - most importantly - unconstitutional. I strongly applaud the Supreme Court’s decision to affirm the ruling that halted the President’s blatant abuse of executive authority.
Since President Obama took office we have seen the size and scope of government grow at an alarming rate. Spending in Washington is out of control, unelected bureaucrats are making uninformed decisions that directly impact the day-to-day lives of Americans and this administration continues to work under the impression that more government and more bureaucracy is the answer.
This week I was honored to join my colleagues in welcoming Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to the United States Capitol to hear his remarks on the deep ties and relationship between the United States and India.
On Monday I proudly joined my fellow Americans in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who selflessly sacrificed their lives to defend our great nation.
I was delighted to kick off this week with a joint press conference with Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. to introduce our bicameral bill, The World’s Greatest Healthcare Plan. Our plan will empower individuals to make their own healthcare decisions and free them from the discriminatory mandates and regulatory burdens under ObamaCare.
For the past 18 months I have worked with Senator Cassidy and Dr. John Goodman, doctors and healthcare providers, and hundreds of business owners in North Texas and across the country to discuss ways that we can improve and reform the unsustainable policies in ObamaCare.
Last year I proudly authorized a resolution to initiate a lawsuit on behalf of the House of Representatives against the Obama administration because it failed to faithfully execute the law with respect to the implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
