During this District Work period I had the opportunity to meet with local leaders about North Texas water issues, discuss economic development in Sachse, and more. I always value listening to the input of my constituents across the district and learning how I can help make life better for all North Texans.

North Texas Municipal Water District
On Tuesday I was delighted to attend a leadership stakeholder meeting between North Texas Municipal Water District, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the EPA to discuss the critically needed Lower Bois d'Arc Creek Reservoir. In our meeting, also attended by my colleague Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, we discussed the ongoing permitting process for the reservoir and how we can work together as North Texans to get this project completed in a safe and efficient manner. This meeting follows a bipartisan effort in the House of Representatives led by North Texas Members of Congress to pass an amendment to the Water Resources Development Act that would cut through bureaucratic red tape and require the EPA and Army Corps to streamline their permitting process for this project. I am glad to be working on this important project on behalf of North Texans across the Metroplex to protect and develop our critical water infrastructure.

Sachse Economic Development Corporation
On Tuesday I sat down with the Sachse Economic Development Corporation and various leaders in the community to address economic issues facing our local community, state, and nation as a whole. We discussed issues ranging from restoring the balance of powers through H.R. 4768, theSeparation of Powers Restoration Act, and fixing our broken healthcare system with my legislation H.R. 5284, The World’s Greatest Healthcare Plan. In addition, I also gave an overview of what to expect legislatively through the end of the year and legislative priorities for the 115th Congress.

Goodman Institute
This morning I had the opportunity discuss pressing issues facing our nation with the Board of Directors of the Goodman Institute for Public Policy Research. We talked about my work as Chairman of the House Rules Committee to end a 30 year-old legal doctrine that allows administrative agencies to take powers not given to them by the Constitution. By ending this legal doctrine called Chevron Deference, we will restore the integrity of our three co-equal branches of government. We also discussed my legislative alternative to ObamaCare. This legislation would ensure that not one more person is forced into ObamaCare. My bill brings free-market principles to our healthcare system, empowering Americans to choose a system free from crushing mandates and taxes and save more of their own money for their healthcare needs today, and in the future.
