We Made the Big Deal the Big Deal
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Rules, released the following statement applauding the passage of the tax reform package:
"Today is a historic day. We are reforming a broken, complicated system that has held back our economy, hindered job growth, and burdened families with costly taxes for far too long. We are closing the door on lackluster GDP numbers and opening up a new chapter of robust economic growth.
"With this package we are breaking through the shackles of bureaucracy, unleashing the free enterprise system, and ringing in a new era of opportunity and freedom. We have ensured that American job creators have more resources to invest in their employees, grow their businesses, and be competitive on the global stage. We are making it easier for students to go to graduate school so they can be the best and brightest in their fields. Additionally, we have finally repealed the onerous, unfair individual mandate that has forced American families to buy costly care that they simply don’t want or that they don’t need.
"When Americans put us in office, they did so with the understanding that we would help make America great again. Well today, we are making Americans great again. We are giving them a tax system that works for them. A system that allows them to take home more of their hard-earned money and have more opportunities for success. Today we made the big deal the big deal and delivered a win for American families, a win for American businesses, and a win for our economy."
