Event Notice: Metroplex Academy Day

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today announced the DFW Metroplex U.S. Service Academy Forum, a congressionally sponsored U.S. Service Academy information event for North Texas high school students interested in lea rning more about Academy opportunities.

On Saturday, April 4, 2009, DFW Metroplex Academy Day will be held from 8am–12pm at the Tarrant County College Southeast, located at 2100 Southeast Parkway, Arlington, Texas, 76018 . This event is free and open to the public.

The DFW Metroplex U.S. Service Academy Forum will highlight the opportunities available, the nomination process, and evaluation requirements for the nation’s five Service Academies:

·        U.S. Military Academy , West Point, NY   

·        U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD   

·        U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO   

·        U.S. Merchant Marine Academy , Kings Point, NY   

·        U.S. Coast Guard Academy , New London, CT  

Each U.S. Service Academy and participating North Texas congressional office will have a representative present to provide additional information and answer questions.

“Our nation’s Service Academies provide world-class education to leading men and women who will serve in the United States military with honor and distinction,” Sessions stated.

“Members of Congress have an important responsibility to nominate qualified applicants to U.S. Service Academies,” Sessions continued. “I look forward to meeting students and parents at DFW Metroplex Academy Day as they lea rn more about our nation’s outstanding Service Academies and the important role they have in shaping the future lea ders of our nation.”
