The Hill Report: Week of June 11 - 15, 2012
This week, I enjoyed spending time in North Texas with my constituents during the District Work Week to discuss the issues most important to them.
On Thursday, I was pleased to join Patton Boggs LLP in hosting the Pete Sessions Women’s Forum. The forum, which I have been hosting for over 10 years, is attended by professional women from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and is an opportunity for me to give an update about the current debates in Washington and to discuss important issues impacting businesses in North Texas. The conversations primarily focused on the economy and the actions Congress must take to get the American people back to work – including lowering taxes and reducing regulatory burdens for small businesses.

In addition to my presentation to the group and our discussions of the economy, the women in attendance had the opportunity to hear from our keynote speaker, Kathleen Black, who serves as the Director of Government Relations for The Coca-Cola Company. Kathleen’s discussion focused on international taxes, as well as the impact of women in the business community. We both encouraged the attendees to remain engaged in the policy process and to provide their valuable perspectives as businesswomen and community leaders.
Pioneer’s employees shared their concerns with over-regulation by the government, and how it impacts the future energy needs for the North Texas region. To learn more about Pioneer Natural Resources, visit http://www.pxd.com/.
I am excited to announce that several young men and women that I have nominated from our district recently graduated or will graduate next week:
I am pleased to join their families, friends and community in giving them our unwavering support as they promote America’s security and freedom. I send my heartiest congratulations to these exceptional men and women, and look forward to seeing their positive impact on our community, state and nation in the future.
I hope you will take a minute to visit my new website and send me an e-mail to let me know your opinion on the important debates happening in Washington this summer. I hope you will find my website to be a useful tool to help you stay informed and connect with me during this critical time for our community, state and nation.
