Pete Sessions Announces Appointments of Eight North Texas Students to U.S. Service Academies
Dallas, Texas – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-Dallas) today announced that eight students in the Thirty-Second Congressional District have accepted appointments to the United States Service Academies as members of the class of 2016.
Max Zendali of Dallas, Caleb Negaard of Dallas, and Austin Ramsey of Richardson have been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Sam Coleman and Carson Warnberg of Dallas have been appointed to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point). John Hardy Davis, William Scurry Johnson, and Austin Jones of Dallas have been appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy.
Congressman Sessions, who represents the Thirty-Second Congressional District, supports maintaining a strong and agile national defense and has taken a special interest in the appointment of Texas students to the nation’s finest Military Academies. Each year, numerous applicants request appointments to our nation’s Service Academies, but only a select few are appointed. Students requesting a nomination from Sessions are evaluated on a variety of criteria including academic background, physical ability, personal recommendations, and an evaluation and ranking by the Academy Selection Board.
“These eight appointees received my nomination because they have fulfilled the requirements for admission to the U.S. Service Academies through their dedication to high academic performance, personal fitness and moral character,” Sessions said. “I am confident that each of them will make our community proud as they represent Texas in three of our nation’s finest academic institutions.”
Sessions considers the nomination of selected students to our nation’s Service Academies to be among his most important congressional responsibilities. Service academy graduates will lead efforts to maintain the strength and commitment of America’s Armed Forces, ensuring our nation’s security and prosperity in the future.
“I am extremely proud of these outstanding students and congratulate them on their accomplishment,” said Sessions. “I am delighted to join their families, teachers, friends and community in giving them our unwavering support as they commit to promoting America’s security and freedom.”
