WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding the EPA’s proposed regulations on power plants:
“Throughout President Obama’s administration, his EPA’s destructive and unprecedented policies have destroyed American jobs and caused energy prices to skyrocket for hardworking families. The EPA’s latest proposed rule would be no different – electricity costs are estimated to spike by as much as $17 billion per year and as many as 224,000 jobs could be lost annually due to the president’s new proposal.
“Instead of unilaterally implementing reckless rules that will harm our economy, the Administration’s top priority should be to create jobs and grow our economy by allowing the free market to unleash American-made energy production and cleaner, more energy-efficient resources and technologies. I strongly disagree with the President’s agenda to ‘necessarily skyrocket’ electricity prices and will continue to fight against the EPA’s destructive regulations that harm Texans and all Americans.”
